Whirly Week

My sister's been exploring London. Wednesday, I took her to Blackheath, across the heath to Greenwich Park, visited the Prime Meridien, down through the park into Greenwich itself, over to the pier where we decided not to take a short boat ride down the Thames to do the south bank river walk.

She's visited museums and galleries and has had a lovely time, and last night, the ESDs and I took her to LUSH for the first time. She was happy. She was predictable. She spent money.

Tonight, we're going to have a quiet night at home (and catch the repeat of last Saturday's Dr Who!), but tomorrow we're thinking seriously about going to see Coriolanus at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Has anybody seen this production? We'd be doing the groundling thing, so £5 tickets!

I have been very tired this week, juggling visit and working. Yesterday I nearly fell asleep at my desk. It goes without saying that I have probably missed catching up on other people's LJs, so please let me know if there's something you want me to see, read, comment on, whatever.

Yay!

What little_cinnamon said, plus if you think you'll have any worries about remaining standing (possibly without anything near you to lean on aside from each other) for two hours plus, then you might reconsider seats.

I've seen a couple of productions there (one as a groundling, but I got up near the stage and could lean on that) and a couple sitting in the "posh" seats (around £20 a seat I seem to recall). You *can* hire cushions for the "posh" seats (because otherwise they are hard hard very hard wooden benches!) and they are *really* worth the money (or bring your own cushions!). The restaurant in the Globe is good, but quite expensive. The pub nearby on the river (the Founders Arms) is very pleasant, but it's £3 for a bowl of chips or £8 for a burger. There are lots of cheaper cafes and pubs within 10 minutes walk.
