[Knitting] Razor Shell Lace Socks

Not just a modification; a "real" design this time. These were cast on last night, and they are moving pretty quickly at this point.


The sock has a garter stitch square toe, around which stitches have been picked up. The lace pattern begins before the toe-to-foot increases finish. The lace pattern is modified from the first Barbara Walker Treasury. Ravelry project page for this item.

Razor Shell Lace Socks I have a ton of self-patterning sock wool, but I'm bored with knitting plain socks. So I've been scouting around for a lace pattern that will work well in a jaquard pattern sock wool, be easy to memorise, and work well in toe-up socks. Mission Accomplished, I think. I'm nearly ready to start the gusset increases, since I prefer faux heel flaps when making a toe-up sock. I think I will probably make this pattern available on Ravelry for free when I'm done, as it's my first lace sock design and it has some fun elements.

I would definitely grab it if you put it up on ravelry, but for me I would modify the toe a bit so that the lace begins a bit further away from the toe (I have a habit of toes going through lace if the lace is too close to the end. Ruins the sock and the toes....

Hm, yes, I think I'd want a bit more solid stuff at the toe, too. But looks very pretty!
