As you know, I did some yarn shoppin' while we were in the States. And honestly, it really wasn't even all that much! It's barely a couch full! And I can still close the foot locker!

(Almost) all the yarn I acquired on the US trip! (Almost) all the yarn I acquired on the US trip!
With bonus books in back, plus a sock blocker keychain I could not resist. From top left, eight hanks of Cherry Tree Hill solids, to recreate the Camelot socks and create the Rhiannons. Two hanks of Koigu in a nice green variegate, because I haven't used it before. Two hanks of bright blue, red, and yellow sock wool from Woven Art in Lansing because it was a hand-dye and pretty. Next to that are four skeins (one is obscured by the dragon scarf) of Lang sock wool, two in sage green and two self-patterning. Above the scarf is some supersocke 100 self patterning wool, some blue lace wool, and right of that is the handpainted wool from Mind's Eye. starting again from the left, we have Lana Grossa self-patterning wool that will probably become a pair of socks for my sister; beneath that we have some Trekking I'm thinking of using for Tanya's socks, although I have something else in mind for that as well. Next to the Trekking and to the right of the Lana Grossa, we have two skeins of Sockotta's self-patterning sock wool, which I got because of the springy colours and the cotton content. The Maggi Knits Irish cotton/linen blend is next, in the flat skeins, and then there's a bright hank of Colinette Jitterbug, possibly for SM if she wants some socks. beneath that is the Tofutsies, which I'm looking forward to experimenting with; I have no idea how it will knit up, but the reviews I've seen are pretty good. Then there are four skeins of Elisabeth Lavold "Hempathy," a hemp/cotton blend that I have in mind for a pair of socks from Sensational Socks. The already started sock is in Colinette Jitterbug again, a delightful lapis colour, with a waterfall rib pattern. Above that is the one skein of Interlacements' Toasty Toes I bought, at a little wool shop in Shelburne, VT. It's all mine! Above that, we have Austerman Step, a sock wool that contains jojoba oil and aloe vera. It feels soft to the touch, but I have no idea how it will knit up. And that little purpley hank you can barely see? It's 100% silk lace wool, and it's going in a bag until I am more confident with lace-- but when it comes out, it's going to make me a lovely lace scarf or a collar.
Project already in progress with new yarn! Project already in progress with new yarn!
These were left out of the previous photo, because there wasn't enough room to put them in. On the left we have the second iteration of the chinese new year socks, for Tigerbright, and on the right we have the chevron sock, now transferred happily onto a circular needle, for the NMC's KB.

You were really minding your budget, weren't you (not sarcastic...just know how it is in a yarn shop)?

Seriously, congratulations on your wonderful finds, and on your great self-restraint.

No, you're right. I really was. I got only things I knew I wanted to work with or was fascinated with and hadn't worked with before, including some very nice handpaints and other things. I was essentially shopping for all the wool I'll use until my next trip to the US.

I discovered we have a yarn shop here and went yesterday.

I'm still in shock. skeins = LITTLE! price = SOHIGH!

Maybe I don't need to learn to knit.

One of the advantages I reap from being allergic to wool - cotton tends to be cheap! (Of course, my other alternatives - things like silk, soy silk, and linen - are NOT.)

It probably doesn't help that I hate the way wool feels and went straight to the alpaca/silk/soysilk/hemp/etc. Yeah.

Colors are *much* better on my own computer than on Dad's. :) Thank you again.
