Mermaid Sock, part II!

I started talking about Mermaid Socks again in this entry, so you might already know I'm knitting another pair.

Let's just say I'm really pleased!

Mermaid Sock with half-completed short-row heel I love how the colours are working in this heel! And because Socks That Rock is a bit denser than other sock wools, the texture on 2mm needles is very dense and springy-- I'm thinking this sock is not only going to look fabulous but it will also feel wonderful. Just five more rows on the short-row garter stitch heel to go, and then we're into the foot, which will also be done in the fishtail lace pattern. Eventually, it narrows down to a star-shaped toe, which I'll need to watch very carefully while knitting. Boy am I loving this sock!

Okay, this is the *first* sock-in-progress that has made me really want to knit socks! (mainly I've been scared away by all the odd short-row and turning and what-not) That fishtail lace pattern is really neat!

And with that said ... any pattern/yarn suggestions for someone who wants to try her first pair of socks and who is allergic to wool? *looks hopeful and adoring at the knitting muse* :)
