Saturdays, 21 and 28 February, 12-2pm
FISHERMAN’S GANSEY
Learn how to design and knit your own fisherman’s gansey-style jumper by designing and knitting one for a teddy bear or favourite doll!
We’ll cover:
*measuring and sizing
*percentage construction and how to design for any body, including yours
*all knitting techniques needed to make the garment, including
-joining flat pieces to work in the round
-magic loop
-simple knit-purl patterning and how to read charts
-using purl stitches to make a faux seam
-moving from knitting in the round to working flat
-grafting
-picking up stitches
-finishing
You should be:
*able to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off
You should bring:
*your favourite doll or teddy bear, preferably one with a chest measurement of 11” or under

TOP-DOWN RAGLAN
Learn how to design and knit your top-down raglan jumper by designing and knitting one for a teddy bear or favourite doll! We’ll cover:
*measuring and sizing
*percentage construction

-knitting in the round
-magic loop
-raglan increases
-using stitch holders creatively
-picking up stitches
-finishing

TUNESIAN CROCHET
Use a long crochet hook to create a thick, textured fabric with a beautiful basketweave texture. Useful for everything from garments to housewares, Tunesian crochet is easy, fun, and fast.
We’ll cover:
*making a chain
*crocheting into the chain to begin the Tunesian stitch
*increasing in Tunesian crochet
*decreasing in Tunesian crochet
*cables (yes, really!) and pattern stitches in Tunesian crochet
*project ideas for Tunesian crochet
You should be:
Willing to learn! No previous crochet experience required, though this is not a ‘how to crochet’ class.
Saturday, 14 March, 3.30-6pm
KNIT FIX
Learn how to correct problems in your knitting before they happen – or after you’ve cast off that final stitch!
We’ll cover:
*everything from picking up a single dropped stitch to how to reknit an entire cable from ladders
*unknitting/tinking
*correcting twisted stitches
*getting rid of loose first stitches
*tension problems
*removing and reknitting ribbings and edges that are too tight or too loose
*dealing with mismatched dyelots
*finding and compensating for errors in patterns
*any question you might have that’s not on this list!
You should be:
Able to knit, purl, cast on, and cast off, and interested in improving your knitting.
You should bring:
A project that’s driving you crazy, a finished project you’re unhappy with – or be prepared to create some problems to fix. I’ll bring examples for you to fix, too!

WEIRD KNITTING TECHNIQUES
There are as many different ways to knit as there are knitters! Learn some weird and wonderful techniques from all around the world. Whether you want to knit faster or more efficiently, or whether you just want some cool knitting tricks to trot out at parties, this class has something for everyone.
We’ll cover:
*How to knit backwards
*Cabling without a cable needle
*Purling with the yarn behind the work (Norwegian Purl)
*Knitting with the yarn in front of the work (Greek Knit)
*Casting off using a needle
*Casting on in two directions
*Casting on with two colours, Channel Island style
*Tvåändsstickning (twined knitting) basics
*And more! If there’s a technique you’ve always wanted to learn, just pop me an email and I’ll try to make room for it in the class.
You should:
Be a fairly experienced knitter – or just really adventurous!
Saturdays, 4, 11, 18 April, 12-2pm
ENTRELAC SCARF
Entrelac is a technique that seems challenging and complex to the untrained eye. Really, it’s simple—and addictive! Learn entrelac by creating a beautiful single-sided or reversible scarf made of interlocking diamonds out of two contrasting colours of aran-weight wool.
We’ll cover:
*how to plan entrelac
*base triangles
*picking up stitches consistently and easily in both garter stitch and stocking stitch, on both knit and purl sides
*short rows
*how to knit backwards (saves time if you don’t want to turn your work a lot, but not absolutely necessary)
You should:
Be able to knit, purl, cast on and cast off.
Saturdays, 4, 11, 18 April, 2.30-4.30pm
SOCKS!
For the beginning or experienced knitter who wants to knit socks for the first time, this class covers the basics of knitting a traditional sock from the cuff down to the toe.
We’ll cover:
*knitting in the round
*using double pointed needles
*alternatives to double pointed needles
*how to turn a traditional heel
*short rows
*picking up stitches
*paired decreases
*kitchener stitch (grafting)
You should:
Be able to knit, purl, cast on, and cast off.
