Decorative castoff/bindoffs?

kniteracyI'm finally finishing what I think of as my albatross project, a large Aran-style jumper that I began working on nearly ten years ago. It was hugely ambitious when I started it, and the last bit of work on the sleeves, the seaming, all that finishing work, has been very easy. It feels good to think how far I've progressed in the last ten years.
So what's the big deal?
When I began this jumper, I was a self-taught knitter, and I had naturally begun knitting into the back of the stitch as a matter of course. In fact, it was this project, which included a twisted rib, that taught me what I was doing and how to make my stitches look more even by knitting into the front of the stitch and not the back for regular stocking/stockinette stitch. However, I was all the way through the very complicated front of the jumper before I realized how to correct what I was doing. I decided to complete the jumper back with the odd back-loop knitting style because ripping out and reknitting the whole thing would have left me in tears, particularly because the shop had sold me three different dye lots of yarn and I was knitting a few rows in each dye lot. The result is a jumper that, although the gauge swatch I did ten years ago was right and the front and back match perfectly, that has a more relaxed look and has given the nearly-finished product a softer shape than the pattern expected me to end up with, resulting in a wider neck than I was planning for originally. No problem-- since the jumper is so much softer than I expected it to be, I'm making a big, loose rolled down modified turtleneck that will roll down softly and complement the shape of the jumper.
So what I'm interested in possibly doing is giving it a slightly decorative castoff/bindoff that will give the neck a little twist or something. I was thinking of something like a Channel Island cast-on look, nothing lacy or frilly because of the way the jumper itself looks.
I haven't taken any photographs of the near-finished product, but I'll post some here when I'm finally done. If you're curious, below is a photograph of the back and front of the jumper.

It isn't feeling loved right now, because it's been ignored and horribly neglected as I work on schoolwork and packing and random gifts and trying to finish up other things so that those needles are free.
