Turning the Heel on
pola_bear's Second Sock
Yesterday, an anonymous woman on the Tube leaned over as she got off the tran and said, "Beautiful," referring to the knitting.
Last night at Sharps I started the heel turn, complete with dozens of coloured markers because I like Mary Beattie's method and I'm trying to memorise it. I only had to look at the instructions (the cheat sheet on my pda) twice to remember how to do the whole thing, and then I moved to zipping up the gussets. I'm nearly done with those this morning.
Who is that amazing woman, effortlessly turning a sock heel on a bus? On those little tiny needles? Moving so fast that she could possibly complete another pair of socks after this one before Christmas?
Gosh. That's me!
