I haven't stopped knitting, promise. I've just been really busy with other things. Here are a couple of things I've been working on recently.

Nearly-finished Serina!
Nearly-finished Serina!
The latest YARN FORWARD had this lovely pattern. It looked like it would be a quick knit, and I fancied something to cover my shoulders with, so I bought the magazine. I originally started it in Elsbeth Lavold Hempathy, and it looked great, but I wasn't sure of the colours, and it suddenly occurred to me that it would look terrific in Noro Silk Garden. Silk Garden is an aran/worsted weight wool, and the pattern wanted a DK, but it's a very light aran, so I didn't even up the needle size from 4.5mm. This is such an amazingly easy pattern to knit, but I think the Noro striping looks fantastic. The silk blend will be less warm than a wool, but warmer than the original hempathy one, which I might still finish, as the drape on it is very good. Today on the bus/train I got past the halfway mark on the lace edging. I'm a wee bit concerned I'm going to run out of wool; it'll be close! If I do, I think IKL still has some of this colour, and if IKL doesn't, I know John Lewis does, much as I resist shopping there for wool.
One finished Pomatomus Sock!
One finished Pomatomus Sock!
This sock has been finished for weeks; I just haven't been photographing things, largely because we've changed the house around and I hadn't found a good place to photograph stuff. Anyway, here's the finished sock in all its glory. The wool is Schoppel-Wolle, the same folks who produce the amazing Zauberball. I'm just past the ribbing and into the first couple of lace repeats on the second sock. I'd like to finish these while we're in Ireland; I'll be taking a *lot* of second socks to Ireland, I suspect! Not that I intend to knit my way across Wales and the Irish Sea, nope, nope, nope!

I'm always stunned by Cookie A's designs. This is the third one of her designs I've knitted, and it's not just that they're lovely to look at: it's the way everything in the design seems to work together. My favourite of her socks so far is definitely the Twisted Flower (must knit that second one....), but this one has the distinction of being surprisingly easy despite its complex appearance. This is one of those socks where knitting continental and using a Norwegian purl stitch kept me sane: It's comprised almost entirely of K1bP1 ribbing (the only other bits are yarn-overs to make the lace). Twisted 1x1 ribbing is much less of a pain in the *ahem* if you knit this way. :)
