Celtic Dreams: Progress, Day 5

I'm enjoying talking about this jumper as I knit it. I hope it's not too boring for everybody. I've made good progress, though not as much as over the weekend obviously. I plan to spend at least half of tomorrow knitting, and I'll be manning a stall at the EFDSS May Fete on Saturday, so that bodes pretty well for getting some work done on this jumper, as well.

A little less than halfway to the join Work's been busy, so I haven't had much time to work on this jumper. Also, finishing up a pair of socks that I've owed a friend for a long time. Those are done, so I've actually been knitting this jumper on public transport. At this point, all but the two most complex motifs are memorised, so I just put a text-file cheat sheet of those two on my mobile phone, and I refer to them as necessary. At this point, the jumper is not too unwieldy to knit on Tube/bus, but it will get that way shortly! The side I'm working on now is the front, and what you see here is one completed 24-row pattern iteration. I'll need to knit another 30 rows before I'm ready to cast on extra stitches on the sides, join, and begin knitting in the round. I think the pattern advises you to do the neckband before that, but I'm not sure. The way the garment is knitted makes it really easy to try on for size while you're working. Oh, and in case you're wondering about the stitch markers-- they're flat washers from B&Q. I couldn't find the brass miniblind rings I like to use on big projects, so I went down to B&Q and bought a load of washers. I then found a source for the miniblind rings (at 5p apiece) and have ordered 100 of those, so these stitch markers will swap out again before the end of the weeekend. As usual, now that I'm into the swing of the pattern, my pace is picking up a bit, and I'm pleased to say I got four rows knitted on my rainy and miserable commute to work this morning!

Today I plan to get the neckline done and accomplish the casting-on of side stitches and the join. Photos as soon as I've got to whatever bit of this goal I can make today.
