Sock of the month clubs!

kniteracyBefore I moved to England, I did this research, but I never followed up on it or got involved at all. Considering the amount of knitting I've done in Singapore, it's a pretty sure bet that I'll be carrying socks-in-progress around with me everywhere when we get back to London.
Some yarn stores have this thing called a sock of the month club. I am not making this up. They send yarn and a pattern for a new pair of socks every month, or every other month. Some offer a little bit of choice; most do not.
There's a really good one at The Knitter Dot Com, which offers different frequency of kits and rates. This one comes very highly recommended, and I corresponded with the ownere of the shop back in August of last year. She has several English members and does ship overseas for an additional $2.00US per kit.
Fiber Nooks and Crannies has one, too.
Fiber Farm Sock Club offers some interesting past kits to see.
